Business Developer
The mandate
You are a hunter. You sell the Pleias product stack: Stratum, our AI-native layer for processing enterprise documents and data, and Synth, our synthetic data generation platform. Both are available as an API and as an on-premise deployment, so you can sell to companies that are comfortable with a hosted service as well as to those whose data cannot leave their own infrastructure.
You own a named-account list of enterprises across sectors, with regulated industries (banking, insurance, legal, public sector, healthcare, transport and logistics) as a priority segment, plus the SI and consultancy partners who can carry the products into their own delivery. You run top-of-funnel outreach, qualification, technical discovery and commercial negotiation.
The technical team joins for deep dives. This is an athlete role: 1 to 3 years of selling experience, strong technical curiosity, and the willingness to learn the technical and regulatory context our buyers care about.
What you will do
- Prospect and qualify named accounts in your territory, across sectors, with regulated enterprises as the core of the list.
- Run Stratum and Synth discovery calls: understand the prospect's data situation and deployment constraints (API or on-premise, hosted or sovereign infrastructure), qualify the use case, and bring in the technical team for second meetings.
- Position the right product, or both together: Stratum where the need is turning document and data flows into AI-ready material, Synth where the customer needs training or fine-tuning data it does not have or cannot use.
- Shepherd pilots from signed PoC to production contract, including on-premise deployments where security review and procurement take longer.
- Build and maintain the market map: which organizations are building or fine-tuning models in-house, which need on-premise or sovereign deployment, which SIs have active enterprise-AI or sovereign-AI programs, which regulated buyers have a ministerial or board-level mandate.
- Bring what you hear back to the product and technical team: objections, deployment blockers, feature requests.
- Own pipeline hygiene in the CRM; deliver accurate weekly and monthly forecasts.
- Represent Pleias at the two or three industry events per year that matter in your market.
What we are looking for
- 1 to 3 years in technology sales: AI/ML, data platform, cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, regtech or fintech. Selling to regulated buyers, or selling software with an on-premise option, is a strong plus.
- Hunter profile: demonstrable pipeline generation, not just account management.
- Comfortable explaining a technical product. You will not write the model card, but you will know why it matters, and you can hold a first conversation about deployment options and data residency without an engineer in the room.
- Able to run a cycle with both technical and business stakeholders, from heads of data and AI to procurement, security and legal.
- Fluent in English and French.
- Willingness to travel internationally.
